Passports are processed and issued in Zimbabwe. At the Embassy you complete the application, give your fingerprints and have your documents authenticated. A relative or nominee in Zimbabwe then submits the application and collects the passport for you.
What adults bring
- Your original long birth certificate, and a photocopy
- Your original Zimbabwean national identity card (synthetic, polythene or metal, or a green waiting pass with a photograph), and a photocopy, if you are 16 or older. Driver’s licences are not accepted.
- Your original marriage certificate or divorce order, and a photocopy, if it applies
- Two identical colour photographs, 3.5 × 4.5 cm, on a strictly white background, in dark clothes, with no glasses or jewellery
- Your expired or current passport, and a photocopy of the photo and details page
- An original police report, translated into English, if your passport was lost or stolen
- A letter authorising a relative or nominee in Zimbabwe to submit and collect the passport for you, with the full names and ID numbers of both of you
Photocopies need not be certified: the Embassy authenticates them. Bringing them ready saves time at your appointment.
Children under 18
Bring everything above, and also:
- The child’s national ID and a photocopy, if the child is 16 or older
- One parent, in person, to sign Section 5 of the form, with their Zimbabwean birth certificate, national ID, current passport and residence permit, and photocopies
- If both parents have died: their original death certificates and photocopies
- For a legal guardian: a Zimbabwean court order. Guardianship certificates must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country that issued them.
