On Anti-Sanctions Day, 25 October 2025, the Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), H.E. Elias Mpedi Magosi, reaffirmed the region’s solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe. The statement recalls that the 39th SADC Summit, held in Dar es Salaam in August 2019, set the day aside to call for the unconditional lifting of the sanctions. It says the sanctions undermine regional integration and Zimbabwe’s full participation in trade and investment, and invites all 16 SADC Member States to join the call. This year’s theme was “Inclusive Development through Heritage-based Innovation and Industrialisation, in a Multilateral world”.
